I’d like to welcome you to The Gourmet Deli & Café. I am Melanie Allen, proud co-owner and managing partner who oversees the daily operations of the business. I also, quite freequently can be found cooking breakfast . I was raised in the restaurant business. Through the years I gained experience by working in local restaurants - from fine dining to bartending. I could never see myself doing anything else as I love the business and it is my passion. Robert Van Dyk is my partner who resides in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Now, let me introduce you to my staff:
Stephen Plaisance –our head chef, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY. He is professionally trained in Northern Italian & Mediterranean cooking. Experience includes catering in all cuisines including Chinese, Greek, Cajun & Creole, French, as well as Kosher. His 30+ years of experience make for endless possibilities when choosing a menu for your special event. Stephen has been with us since the fall of 2007. Since then he has played a significant role in the daily operations of the deli.
Brittany Bushee - Is new to our staff coming on board in March '10. She is quickly learning the ropes! Her bubbly personality is infectious!
Amy Comar - has worked for us intermittently as a server and hostess since 2004. Amy was raised here in Manchester therefore she has great knowledge of the area with the ability to answer our customers’ inquiries. Her customer service is outstanding which makes her an asset to our staff.
Emily Gillis - has been a member of our staff since 2004. Emily always brings her smile, positive attitude, & work ethic with her. She is an experienced server, whose personality & customer service skills make her a joy & a pleasure to have on our team.
Garrett Allen - has been a member of our team since 2004. His duties are dishwashing, food prep & general cleaning. His attention to detail is an attribute to his job.
The Gourmet Deli & Café was established in the early 1960’s. It quickly became known for its good food, service, hospitality, and outdoor dining- a first for Manchester. Bob & I purchased The Gourmet Deli & Café on July 1, 2004.
Our mission is to continue to consistently provide our customers with great food & service. After all, this is our passion. As it is our customers who make us who we are!
